Local Red Cross Chapter honored as one of top 90 in country by American Red Cross
Albany, NY (May 19)— The American Red Cross of Northeastern New York (ARCNENY) has been named one of the highest-performing Chapters in the United States by the national American Red Cross, headquartered in Washington, D.C. Only 90 of 749 Red Cross Chapters throughout the country earned the honor.
“The Highly-Performing Chapter ranking is a direct result of the hard work and commitment of our chapter’s volunteers, supporters, and staff who carry out the mission of the Red Cross every day,” said Gary Striar, CEO of ARCNENY. “We are honored to receive this prestigious award for the first time.”
The Highly-Performing Chapter award was presented to Striar and Stephen Madarasz, Chair of the ARCNENY Board of Directors, by Bonnie McElveen-Hunter, Chairman of the American Red Cross at the recent Red Cross National Convention in Baltimore, Maryland (see photo below; for high-res photo for publication, please contact Siobhan Gallagher at the number above).
The Highly-Performing Chapter ranking is based on a comprehensive set of 47 performance standards completed by Red Cross Chapters nationwide. Chapters are evaluated on level of services provided to the community, client satisfaction, strength of governance, personnel and business practices, financial condition, volunteer satisfaction and collaboration with other community organizations.
