Health and Safety Training
Register now for the 2008 National Aquatic School from June 28 through July 3.
There are five training sites at which Health and Safety courses are presented on a regular basis:

NEW! Online Health & Safety training -- Learn on your own schedule with online training. Complete course material online, then attend an instructor-led skills session to complete the course. At the conclusion of your instructor-led training, you will receive Red Cross certification. You must complete online training within 14 days of registering, and complete the instructor-led portion within 30 days of registration. Get Ready-Be Safe - Learn simple steps to help prepare you, your loved ones and your workplace for emergencies. Presented by Capital District Physicians´ Health Plan and educational partner M&T Bank.
The Lay Responder First Aid/CPR/AED program – Designed for workplaces, schools, individuals and community organizations, this course combines lectures, demonstrations and video with hands-on skills training and practice. Coursees in this program grouping include; Adult CPR with AED : Adult / Infant & Child CPR with Adult AED : Infant and Child CPR : Adult CPR with AED and First Aid : Adult, Infant and Child CPR wiht AED and First Aid : First Aid Progression (First Aid Only). Upon successful completion, participants earn Red Cross certification in CPR & AED and/or First Aid, the emergency-training credential accepted by OSHA and public safety agencies nationwide.
First Aid: Responding to Emergencies - Developed for high schools, colleges and universities, this course conveniently fits into a semester or quarter schedule and can be adapted to your course outline. This training combines lecture, discussion and simulated emergency situations to teach reliable responses for numerous situations.
Professional Rescuer courses - CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Lifeguarding courses provide training for professional rescuers.
Babysitter’s Training – This very popular course givers 11 – 15 year-olds the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Combining video, activities, hands-on-skill training and discussion for the most complete learning experience.
Individuals Caring for a Loved One - For anyone caring for a loved one at home, life is a balancing act. American Red Cross Family Caregiving offers a helping hand by providing information -packed sessions on a variety of topics important to caregivers.
Learn-to-Swim Courses - The American Red Cross offers a comprehensive program of progressive levels that teach participants how to swim skillfully and safely. The prerequisite for each level is successful demonstration of the skills taught in the preceding level.
Practical Skills for Reducing Costly Injuries and Illnesses – The American Red Cross injury-control modules are a series of one-hour, awareness-building modules on topics that can help your organization reduce costly on-the-job injuries and help your staff avoid major health risks. They’re an efficient way to keep “safety first” and take steps to control health care costs.
First Aid and Preparedness – The fastest way to help employees prepare for an emergency. Streamlined to fit into busy work schedules, this interactive presentation is ideal for employees who want to learn lifesaving skills, but do not need to receive certification to meet OSHA regulations. A 90-minute session is packed with information to help employees stay prepared with valuable lifesaving skills. It’s a great employee benefit that gives workers information that can be applied on the job- and at home with their families.
National Aquatic School (NAS)--Created in 1964 to provide an intensive, one-week opportunity for students to receive American Red Cross certification in water safety skills of all sorts, from small craft instruction to lifeguard training. This innovative learning opportunity draws students from all over the United States and internationally. The 2008 National Aquatic School will be held from June 28 through July 3 at beautiful Camp Fowler in Speculator, New York.
